The Telegraph reports: Good for your physical and mental health, taking the outdoor plunge and cold water swimming is the perfect new year health kick.


Every morning, at 7.30, I walk out of my front door, down the road, to the beach – and swim in the North Sea. I’m not entirely crazy (I wear neoprene gloves, shoes and a swimming hat in winter), but I am addicted to that zing on your skin and what I can only describe as an acute sense of being alive, when all your senses are at their sharpest.
