Welcome Back to Swimming in New Yorks East River

Last year on a particularly hot summers day an architect gazed longingly at the East River and asked the obvious question: why not go in for a swim? He had a vision that has now begun to take shape in the form of a floating swimming pool. This idea has been used many times before (Liverpool’s St. George’s Pier Head baths for example) but in his revolutionary design Dong-Ping Wong suggests that the walls of the pool could filter the river water thus improving its quality. There is a long way to go before this pool becomes a reality but this is a great step in the right direction! New York Press
