The Leicester Mercury reports: t's almost the summer holidays, and if there's one thing that every child loves, it's a day at the beach! With Leicestershire being a long way from the coast, a long car journey is usually involved - however, there is a beach closer to home that is about to open.
This is Rutland Water Beach, which is owned and run by Anglian Water. A spokesperson for the company has confirmed to LeicestershireLive that the beach is due to open for the 2022 season from Saturday, June 25.
We've put together all the information you need to plan a trip to the Rutland beach. We just all need to keep our fingers crossed for some sunny weather!
Where is the beach?
The beach is located at Sykes Lane, on Rutland Water’s North Shore. The nearest car park is Sykes Lane Car Park (LE15 8QL).
During busy times, an overflow car park will be in use This is a 15 minute walk from the beach.
When is it open?
The beach will be open before the school holidays from 10am until 6pm at weekends and noon until 5pm during the week. During the school holidays, it will be open from 10am until 6pm every day.
How much does it cost to visit?
There's no cost to visit the beach itself, but entry to the car park costs £10 per car before 3pm, and £5 per car after 3pm. Visitors are advised to have cash ready to speed up the entry process.
